Oh, hey.
It’s been a little more than a month since I last posted here.
I’ve been busy with life. There were some big changes at work, for one thing. Outside of work, I implemented a side project for the first time ever (more on this soon!). In between work and hustling, I exercise my creativity whenever I can. This year, I read more fiction and returned to manga drawing after a three-year hiatus (more on those too!).
In spite of everything that is going on, this blog hasn’t been too far from my mind.
It’s been about seven months since I started and I’m glad I did. Writing here helps to keep my skills sharp, stimulate my creativity, and share my thoughts. I’m also proud of the fact that this is my first proper website (my own domain name and all). I want to keep this blog going!
Of late, I’ve been thinking about where I want to go with it. I want to make the website as a whole more focused.
As it is, my About Me page is vague: I focus on “a motley collection” of “written observations and stories”. Things like “Creativity. Swag. The Hustle. Storytelling (the art and science of it). Writing as a craft and a profession. Navigating the ebbs and flows of a fast-changing world.”
Yea, could be better.
My goals haven’t changed much since my first blog post, I just want to whittle down that broad sweep laid out in About Me. I’m thinking of these focus areas:
- Copywriting: Instead of writing about writing in general, I’ll focus on copywriting. This is an underrated but powerful skill that can be parlayed in so many directions. I want to grow in this area.
- Hustle: By hustle, I mean the ability and tenacity to reach goals that I choose for myself. I’ll share how I approach hustle and what I’ve learned along the way.
- Internet marketing: Also known as digital marketing. Low barriers of entry, but high levels of competition. How to succeed when everyone from freelancers to startup founders to multinational corporations wants to be heard on the Internet? I’ve been working in this field since January 2016, and the learning never stops.
- Creativity: Many folks believe that creativity is something you are born with. Not so! Like copywriting, this is a powerful and versatile ability that CAN be nurtured.
Come to think of it, these four are related in various ways. Excellent copywriting and a creative mind are huge assets in Internet marketing, and Internet marketing is crucial in almost any modern-day hustle. That’s one way to look at it.
So, over the next few weeks, look out for some changes to the website. About Me will be rewritten. I might also tweak or completely redo some sections. Oh, and look out for new posts too 😊
Thanks for following me so far!
